your word processor (Word or WordPerfect) responses (a least two pages)
to an e-mail note to your teaching assistant. DO
NOT simply type your responses into the body of an e-mail sender.
The formatting will be lost. Pay attention to organization and grammar
as you put together your responses. Your written response is due no later
than 3:00 on Tuesday, April 18.
Global warming, the Greenhouse effect and the recent Kyoto Conference
on Global Warming are all topics that you as educated individuals should
know a great deal about.
You will need to do some searching on the Internet or in the library
to assess the accuracy of the following six
statements. You should provide me the basis for your assessment (a journal
article; a web URL; a book; a popular news magazine article). Useful metasearch

- Carbon dioxide contributes to an elevated global temperature.
- The concentration of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere has been increasing
over the past century.
- The increase in atmospheric carbon dioxide over the past century is
a consquence of human activity.
- There has been an increase in average global temperature during the
past century.
- The carbon dioxide and other gases generated by human activity are
responsible for this temperature increase.
- The average global temperature will continue to increase as anthropogenic
emissions of greenhouse gases increase.
